Can Demon Spirits Become Dormant

Not everything in life can be found in the Bible, but everything in life can be line up with the Bible. Can a demon spirit become dormant? The answer to that is yes! In the Gospel of Luke: Chapter 11 verses 24 to 26, it states, “when the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out”. 25: “and when he cometh, he findth it swept and garnished”. 26: “then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first”. American Dictionary of the English language Noah Webster 1828 dormant number one:  sleeping hence for rest not an action as dormant possession. Number two: being in a sleeping posture as a lion dormant in heraldy. Black’s Law Dictionary 4th edition: literally sleeping hence inactive in abeyance unknown concealed silent.

When a person comes to Jesus and gives their live over to the Lord, they rejoice in the Lord (and the fruit of the Spirit are abundant in their life), but they struggle with things in their mind and have a hard time breaking free of it, and eventually fall away. In some religious circles, they teach that if you become born again or spirit-filled, nothing bad can happen to you and that Satan can’t attack you, but if a person falls away, their reasoning is: they were never born again or spirit filled in the beginning. I find this very difficult knowing that demon spirits that had left a person may become dormant. Many times when a person comes to Jesus, demon spirits fall asleep, just hanging around that person waiting for an opportunity to come in. First Kings: Chapter 18 verse 27 states, “and it came to pass at noon, that Elisha mock them, and said, Cry aloud; for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing or he is in a journey or peradventure(perhaps) he sleepeth, and must be awaked”.

Demons that are sleepers are also demons that are dormant. It doesn’t necessarily mean a spirit spouse, which takes advantage of a person sexually while they sleep. This is another example of spirits or demons going dormant. These demons usually stay in the person after they come to Christ waiting for a door opening to happen through our reckless behavior of our sins.

When we come to Jesus, he forgives us our sins and throws them over his shoulder to the east never to come back. They are forever forgiven, but that doesn’t mean we can go on sinning. If we continue to sin, we give demon spirits rights to stay, we may think we have it all together and struggle with problems in our life (these are demon spirits) their domain is in our mind not in our soul. There are five senses that demons love to use to regain access to a person or take their rights back. They are the senses of sight, sound, hearing, taste, and touch/feel.

In First Samuel Chapter 2 verse 9 it states, “He will keep the feet of His saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail”. Again, demon spirits can become silent. This is another way of being dormant it states, “And the wicked shall be silent in darkness”, if a demon spirit is silent, they are playing a game with us; to them it’s a sport and a kill. When one comes to Jesus Christ, the demon can become silent hoping to find a way to open a gateway up to our mind. They like to make us think their thoughts are ours. If we don’t apply the blood of the Lamb in our lives daily, we are in dangerous territory.  Demons are diligently working hard to make us think their thoughts are our thoughts.
